How to Set up the Follower Goal Widget (Streamlabs Dashboard)
Below we're setting up a Follower Goal that includes all platforms connected to our Streamlabs account. These platforms share the goal amount, making it a great option for multistreamers.
Note: You can also set up platform-specific follower goals using separate widget themes. We'll go over that in the next section.
Step 1: Log in to your Streamlabs Dashboard, click All Widgets in the sidebar, then select Follower Goal under the Goals section.
Step 2: Use the Manage Goal panel to enter your goal title, total goal amount, starting point, and end date. Remember, the goal you're setting here will be shared across platforms.
Step 3: Choose what follower related events you'd like the widget to track. Use the Platform dropdown to specify which events count toward your goal.
Supported platforms include:
- Twitch: Follows
- YouTube: Subscribers
- Facebook: Follows
- Kick: Follows
Step 4: Customize the look of your goal bar by adjusting layout, font, bar thickness, and colors. A live preview (with sample data) helps you visualize how the widget will appear on stream.
Step 5: If you want more design control, enable Custom HTML/CSS to fully customize the widget's appearance.
Step 6: Click Save Settings, then copy the Widget URL to paste into any broadcast software that supports browser sources (like OBS Studio, XSplit, or Lightstream). If you're using Streamlabs Desktop or the Streamlabs Plugin for OBS, you can add the follower goal widget natively to your stream in the respective application.
Advanced: Setting up Platform-Specific Follower Goals
Want to track different follower goals for different platforms? You can do this using custom widget themes. Essentially, you'll need to create a new follower goal widget for each theme, with each theme being tied to a different platform.
Below is a screenshot of three different widgets themes we have set up. Each is named for the platform it will be used with.
Step 1: From the Streamlabs Dashboard, click Widget Themes, then select Create Widget Theme. Name your theme something platform-specific (e.g., "Twitch Follower Goal") and click Create. You can start from scratch or browse the library for a premade theme.
Step 2: Switch to the desired platform theme and set up a Follower Goal widget using the same steps as above.
Be sure to choose only the platform-specific events (like Twitch follows) under the platform dropdown.
Step 3: In the Widget Themes section, click the link icon next to the theme you want to use to access your Follower Goal widget.
Step 4: Find the follower goal widget link in the list and copy by clicking the copy icon next to it.
Step 5: Open Streamlabs Desktop or your streaming software of choice and find the option to add a Browser Source. In Streamlabs Desktop, this would be Plus Sign (+) in Editor > Browser Source >Add Source.
Step 6: When prompted, we recommend naming the source "[Platform name] Follower Goal" so you don't mix them up in your sources list. Hit Add Source once you've input a name.
Step 7: Paste the link for the follower goal in the URL field. When you're done, press Close.
Step 8: The Follower goal widget will appear on screen for you to resize, drag etc. to fit your layout. Repeat the steps above to create more platform specific follower goals.
Note: In Streamlabs Desktop, you cannot natively set up platform-specific widgets using multiple themes. For this, you must add each one as a separate Browser Source, as outlined above.
How to Set up the Follower Goal Widget in Streamlabs Desktop (Natively)
If you're using one Follower Goal widget to track followers across multiple platforms, you can add the widget directly inside Streamlabs Desktop.
Step 1: Open Streamlabs Desktop and navigate to the Editor tab.
Step 2: Click the Plus sign (+) button in the Sources panel to add a new source.
Step 3: Select Follower Goal from the list of widgets.
Step 4: Name your source (or keep the default) and click Add Source.
Note: If you've already set up your follower goal in the Streamlabs Dashboard, those settings will carry over. Double-check everything and skip to step 8 if you're good to go.
Step 5: In the Goal tab, enter your goal title, total goal amount, starting amount, and end date. Click Start Goal to activate it.
Step 6: Use the Visual Settings tab to adjust the layout, font, bar style, and color scheme to match your stream branding.
Step 7: Under the Source tab, you can add custom HTML/CSS or adjust advanced settings like audio and shutdown behavior.
Step 8: Click Done to add the widget to your scene. Resize and reposition as needed.
How to Set Up the Follower Goal Widget in OBS Studio
If you're using the Streamlabs for OBS Plugin, you can add the Follower Goal widget just as easily.
Step 1: Open OBS Studio and make sure the Streamlabs Plugin for OBS is installed and you're logged in.
Step 2: In the top navigation panel, click Streamlabs. This will take you to all widget settings powered by the Streamlabs Plugin.
Step 3: From the widget list, select Follower Goal, then click +Add. If you need to update the widget, click Settings to open the Streamlabs Dashboard.
Step 4: The Follower Goal widget will now appear under Sources in OBS Studio. Drag and resize it to fit your scene.
Note—If you want to set up individual Follower Goal widgets for each platform, follow the advanced steps above and add each one as a Browser Source manually.
